Which LGBTQ+ horror film you should watch based on your zodiac sign!

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

Interview with the Vampire. Directed by Neil Jordan, Geffen Pictures / Warner Bros., 1994.

The iconic Interview With The Vampire (1995) film screams Aries. Lestat and Louis have a homoerotic relationship that could rival Greek Gods. Their fierce and fiery relationship paired with their sassy vampire attitudes is what sells this film as totally Aries. Bonus points if you watch the television adaption.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

Titane. Directed by Julia Ducournau, Kazak Productions / Frakas Productions, 2021.
Titane. Directed by Julia Ducournau, Kazak Productions / Frakas Productions, 2021.

Titane (2021) is a french body horror film that subverts what we think about the gender binary while also dealing with themes of belonging. This is a film meant to challenge the Taurus to think outside the box and free themselves from expectation.

Gemini (May 21 – June 21)

Bodies Bodies Bodies. Directed by Halina Reijn, A24, 2022.
Bodies Bodies Bodies. Directed by Halina Reijn, A24, 2022.

A modern whodunit, a mystery during a storm, who is the killer… Bodies, Bodies, Bodies (2021) is so Gemini coded. Our main character brings her new girlfriend into the messy world of her friend group at possibly the worst time ever. Chaos ensues and even the viewer is left questioning everything.

Cancer (June 22 – July 22)

Psycho Beach Party. Directed by Robert Lee King, Strand Releasing, 2000.
Psycho Beach Party. Directed by Robert Lee King, Strand Releasing, 2000.

Cancer’s must watch the slept-on 2000’s campy beach party film Psycho Beach Party (2000). Our main character, Chicklet, just wants to fit in to the surfer bros group but she struggles with some wicked mood swings. This film has everything: drag, repressed lesbianism, gay beach bros, lauren ambrose... what more could you ask for?

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Directed by Jim Sharman, 20th Century Fox, 1975.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Directed by Jim Sharman, 20th Century Fox, 1975.

A true Leo through and through, Dr. Frank-N-Furter leads this insane genre/gender bender. The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) is an iconic film for a reason. The idea that there is a species of genderless pansexuals just running amuck eating people while singing and dancing makes this bold and provocative film so Leo.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

Janiak, Leigh, director. Fear Street Trilogy. Chernin Entertainment / 21 Laps Entertainment, 2021. Netflix, www.netflix.com.
Janiak, Leigh, director. Fear Street Trilogy. Chernin Entertainment / 21 Laps Entertainment, 2021. Netflix, www.netflix.com.

For the ever curious and ever analytical Virgo, The Fear Street Trilogy (2021) just makes sense. We have 3 films that time jump around to tell one cohesive story with leading queer characters trying to break an ancient old curse.

Libra (September 23 – October 23)

The Vampire Lovers. Directed by Roy Ward Baker, Hammer Films and American International Films, 1970.
The Vampire Lovers. Directed by Roy Ward Baker, Hammer Films and American International Films, 1970.

The Vampire Lovers (1970) is a quintessential 70’s lesbian vampire film that’s based on the Carmilla novel. 18th century vamps with a late 60’s/early 70’s aesthetic that works incredibly well. This unique mash-up of aesthetics and gothic romance vibes make this a perfect film for a Libra.

Scorpio (October 24 – November 21)

Bram Stoker's Dracula. Directed by Francis Ford Coppola, Columbia Pictures, 1992.
Bram Stoker's Dracula. Directed by Francis Ford Coppola, Columbia Pictures, 1992.

To pick a queer horror worthy of the spookiest sign of the zodiac is a daunting task, but none other than Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1996) won out. Dracula is a classic bisexual icon and this film exudes bisexuality from start to finish. The incredible costume design that screams Scorpio is the cherry on top.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

Jennifer's Body. Directed by Karyn Kusama, Twentieth Century Fox, 2009.
Jennifer's Body. Directed by Karyn Kusama, Twentieth Century Fox, 2009.

Sagittarius, without a doubt, needs to watch Jennifer’s Body (2009). A classic bisexual film with fierce characters and an anti-men storyline that has you rooting for our toxic yuri final boss ship, Jennifer and Needy.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

Re-Animator. Directed by Stuart Gordon, Empire Pictures, 1985.
Re-Animator. Directed by Stuart Gordon, Empire Pictures, 1985.

For the level-headed and angsty Capricorn, Re-Animator (1985) is the perfect watch. While not explicitly queer, there is homoerotic tension between our main mad-scientists which makes this a queer classic. This film is the perfect 80’s B movie that balances bromance and kooky, questionable experiments.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

I Saw the TV Glow. Directed by Jane Schoenbrun, A24, 2024.
I Saw the TV Glow. Directed by Jane Schoenbrun, A24, 2024.

Ever questioning the binary and ever curious, the Aquarius lives in a space outside of the norm. I Saw The TV Glow (2024) explores the horrors of gender identity in a colorful and surrealist story which makes this the most Aquarius film ever.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

The Hunger. Directed by Tony Scott, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, 1983.
The Hunger. Directed by Tony Scott, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, 1983.

For the yearning water sign, The Hunger (1983) is the perfect watch. This film is the perfect blend of lesbian angst and vampiric neo-noir tension. Moody vampires, David Bowie, butchy Susan Sarandon, and the phenomenal score just scream Pisces.
