Metrograph’s ‘That Most Taboo of Red Meats’ Series

Nothing is vegetarian in Metrograph’s latest film lineup. ‘That Most Taboo of Red Meats’ is on now until September 7th and features a 4K restoration of the German film, Der Fan (1982). Metrograph is one of the most phenomenal theatres in NYC and their film lineup never disappoints. Everyone knows Hannibal the cannibal, but this series uplifts the often overlooked women cannibals of film. #feminism

The films accompanying Der Fan are Jennifer’s Body (2009), Raw (2016), Spider Baby (1967), In My Skin (2002), and House (1977). The range of the selection is really what stands out the most- 60’s black comedy, Japanese surrealism, bites from the 21st century, and more to feast on. The curation of these films is as iconic as the theatre itself. This is not a series you’re going to want to miss.

I’m really looking forward to the 4K restoration of Der Fan that premieres August 28th and Raw which is a film by one of my favorite French directors, Julia Ducournau.
